LA SILA NATIONAL PARK - CALABRIA- SOUTH ITALY
La Sila is an immense plateau of Forest, glades and streams. An atypical landscape
in respect of the geographical form of the neighbouring land. Since
1968, Sila has become a National Park, an extraordinary, beautiful
territory, still unknown to many. Cecita Lake, which could be considered
the geographical heart of the park, that used to be pasture land before
the lake was formed artificially. Visit to Camigliatello, the principal
town of Sila, which is a good observation point of the surrounding
landscape, and where you can buy local hand-made products. for San
Giovanni in Fiore, a town famous for its handmade textiles, and where
only a few weavers renew the art of making oriental carpets, an art
imported by a community of Armenian monks.
